Altes Rathaus - Das Alte Rathaus in Schöningen stammt mit seiner wesentlichen Bausubstanz aus dem Mittelalter. Seine klassizistische Fassade erhielt es jedoch erst 1803.

Im Giebelfeld ist das Stadtwappen abgebildet: Ein goldener Löwe, Emblem der Braunschweiger Welfen, der Landesherren, der auf einem Turm steht und nach einem silbernen Stern greift.

Von 1994 bis 1996 wurde das alte Rathaus nach dem Abriss von Anbauten aus dem 19. Jahrhundert völlig saniert und mit einem neuen östlichen Treppenhaus versehen.

Im Erdgeschoss befindet sich das Restaurant "Ratskeller". Im 1. und 2. Stock sind Teile der städtischen Verwaltung untergebracht.

The Old Town Hall in Schöningen dates back to the Middle Ages in its main structure, although its neoclassical façade was added in 1803.

The gable field features the city’s coat of arms: a golden lion — the emblem of the Brunswick Welfs, the region’s former rulers — standing on a tower and reaching for a silver star.

Between 1994 and 1996, the Old Town Hall underwent extensive restoration, which included the removal of 19th-century additions and the construction of a new eastern staircase.

Today, the ground floor houses the “Ratskeller” restaurant, while the first and second floors accommodate parts of the municipal administration.
