Bitte beachten Sie, dass die Gebühr bereits bei der Antragstellung erhoben wird. Bar- oder EC-Kartenzahlung ist möglich.
An expired passport cannot be renewed. A new document must be applied for.
Passport applications must always be submitted in person, as you will need to provide your signature and fingerprints on-site. Representation by another person is therefore not possible.
Required documents: current certificate (original birth certificate for single individuals or original marriage certificate)
If foreign documents are submitted in connection with the passport application (e.g., birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce decree), the need for legalization or a Hague Apostille, as well as officially recognized translations, must be verified.
A current, digital biometric passport photo must be submitted.

3. Processing time:
Processing by the Federal Printing Office can take 4-6 weeks.
Express orders can take up to 7 business days.

€37.50 for applicants under 24 years of age
€70.00 for applicants 24 years of age and older

€32.00 for express delivery
€22.00 for a 48-page passport
€54.00 for express delivery of a 48-page passport
€6.00 for a digital passport photo if taken at the Citizens' Office (currently unavailable due to technical issues)

5. Required Documents:
A current, digital, biometric passport photo – Please note that since May 1, 2025, paper-based passport photos are no longer accepted by the Citizens' Office. Further information can be found here.
Original birth certificate for single persons or marriage certificate; for foreign documents, an original translation by a state-certified translator is also required.
Current identification document (child's passport/child's identity card/national identity card), if the previous passport has long since expired.
